TAMASKAN WOLF
DOG
Tamaskans are a combination of a different dog breeds, under the
development using a procedure called breeding back. Breeders
have used mainly the Bristish Utonagan, the Alaskan Malamute,
The Siberian Husky, The Greenland Dog, and the German Shepard or
Alsation.
This unique combination produced a well tempered superior dog
that strongly resembles a wolf. Tamaskans can be recreational
dogs used for sledding, backpacking, agility, and weight
pulling. You will find they delight in winter
sports!

The main colors produced are the wolf grey and the red sable,
always with white or cream markings. Tamaskans are clean and
housetrain easily. They have a double coat and shed out the
undercoat twice a year, usually spring and fall. This is also
known as "blowing coat". The size of a Tamaskan can range from
70-90lbs. Making them very strong dogs. They need early
socializing and obedience training to make a well-behaved family
pet. Tamaskans can be very social and get along very well with
other dogs. Known as a pack animal, living alone will make them
lonely and they will do things to get your attention. Remember
dogs obey you and they evolved to serve humans. You must
establish from an early age that you are the alpha. Before
owning a tamaskan consider if you have the time to spend with
your dog. Tamaskans need a good amount of exercise. But it will
definitely be worth it, for the companionship and loyalty given
back to you for many years.
ICEWIND TAMASKAN WOLF DOGS
Our
tamaskans are friendly and affectionate. We have started our
breeding program with four foundation dogs. Moose, Tasha,
Tundra, and our newest addition, Shadow. Who we think is far
more superior in looks already. Tamaskans are full of fun and
life. They are comedians in their own right and we could watch
them forever.
We
are selectively going to breed to improve on the health and
looks of the Tamaskan Wolf Dog. All our breeding stock has been
cleared of hip dysplasia. We will breed only from superior
breeding stock without any faults. With a high priority on
temperament. The Tamaskans will have a bright future in the USA.
The American people are very intelligent and do health
screenings before breeding dogs. But on a genetic level, dogs
and wolves are extremely similiar. The DNA difference between
the two is less then
1%.
It
will take a great deal of work and a good measure of educational
outreach to inform people about the Tamaskan. Our puppies will
be family raised and well socialized. We feel we have a speicial
bond with all our dogs and are more then willing to share our
knowledge with you. Our focus is to raise Tamaskans with
superior temperaments and working ability being passed on to
your puppy.

HALL OF SHAME
Attention and
Beware!!!
We
imported our first two tamaskans from Lynn Sharkey and Jennie
Peacock in Finland, we thought we were dealing with educated
and ethical breeders. Think again! Upon arrrival we recieved 2
male dogs, one was 6 months old , who was to be a stud dog to
start our breeding program. He arrived without his testicles. We
took Apache as he was known to our vet , he confirmed there was
no testicles and asked what kind of breeders did you buy from?
and continued on about how they were not ethical and saying if
they were starting a new breed it definately wasn't going to
happen with this dog. We continued with hope and went to a
reproductive specialist veternarian, she confirmed the testicles
were in the abdomen and they had been there since birth. After
notify Lynn she said "well he had them when he got on the plane"
We were very hurt by these people, since we have paid a large
sum of money for their dogs. We were notified we would not
receive a replacement dog or a refund. Since then Jennie has
been trying to slander our name saying we don't have tamaskans.
We are explaining what has happened to us , so this doesn't
happen to you. Also we started The National Tamaskan Club of
America which is a registered domain to Karen Moore, yet Jennie
continues to use the name on her website promoting it as her own
without our consent.
